Troubleshooting
Common connection, schema, query, sharing, and widget issues - plus the quickest ways to resolve them.
Connection issues
Connection test fails
- Check the hostname, port, credentials, and selected provider variant.
- Verify the database or API is reachable from the environment where QueryCanvas runs.
- Confirm your firewall, allowlist, or VPN rules permit the connection.
- Toggle SSL only when the source actually requires it.
Google Sheets or OAuth source does not connect
- Make sure the configured redirect URI exactly matches the backend callback URL.
- Confirm the Google account or SaaS account has access to the selected resource.
- Reconnect the source if the OAuth token has expired or was revoked.
Schema is empty or stale
- Refresh the schema from the connection detail page.
- Ensure the connected user has permission to list tables, collections, or sheets.
- Check that the selected spreadsheet, file, or API resource actually contains data.
Query and report issues
Query returns the wrong result
- Review the selected fields, aggregations, and filters before rerunning.
- Use a smaller filtered result set first so the output is easier to validate.
- When using AI, mention the exact table, collection, or field names in the prompt.
Results are truncated
QueryCanvas may limit large result sets for performance. Use filters, narrower date ranges, or more targeted fields when you need a smaller working set.
Widgets look wrong or feel incomplete
- Recheck the widget type, chosen source fields, and aggregation settings.
- For stat, progress, and funnel widgets, verify the selected operation matches the intended metric.
- For charts and tables, confirm the date range and pagination settings are appropriate.
Sharing and public view issues
Public report or dashboard does not open
- Verify public sharing is still enabled.
- Check whether the link has an expiration date or password requirement.
- Regenerate the share link if the existing token was revoked.
Public dashboards look different on mobile
Public dashboards use a dedicated mobile layout. If a widget still looks off, review the widget configuration and test it again after saving the latest dashboard layout.
